S & S Machine Works
S & S Machine Works, the forerunner of S & S Hinge, began manufacturing continuous and butt type hinges in 1932 in Chicago. Hinges were manufactured for ammunition boxes, C-ration containers and military equipment containers during World War II for the U.S. Army.
Walter Stevenson, center
In 1948, Walter Stevenson separated the hinge stamping operation from S & S Machine Works and built a 10,000 sq. ft. facility at 4727 W. Iowa Street in Chicago, creating the S & S Hinge Company.
Al Stevenson, center
After serving in the United States Army, Walter's son, Al Stevenson, became a senior manager. S & S Hinge soon outgrew the Iowa Street facility and built a 20,000 sq. ft. facility in Schiller Park, Illinois, moving in 1959.
In 1994, we built our 50,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility to meet our specific needs as a stamping operation serving the worldwide market. The S & S Hinge Company is now located just forty-five minutes west of downtown Chicago in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

Greg and Mary Grimler, owners of Quality Hinges located in University Park, IL are the new owners of the S & S Hinge Company Bloomingdale, IL. They bring years of experience, and manufacturing expertise. They share the S & S Hinge Company mission statement which is, "Providing unprecedented Customer Service, manufacturing a quality product, and providing on-time delivery." Most importantly their vision focuses on future growth, fulfilling their dreams and aspirations as owners of S & S Hinge, and securing a sustainable future for the employees of the company. They are fully engaged in taking S & S Hinge to new levels of success.
Office Staff
Words that describe the S & S Hinge Company office staff – experienced, knowledgeable, detail oriented, caring, and dedicated. They represent the best of the best in their respective areas of expertise. Our customer service team is made up of Richard Sade, National Sales Manager, Katelyn Hanley Customer Service Manager, Lucia DeLeon Customer Service Representative, and Jaime Ceron Traffic Manager. Anastasia Levkovich Accounting & HR Manager is new to S & S, she brings 18 years of accounting experience to her position.
Purchasing Department
Rose Bautista is our Purchasing Manager she has been with the S & S Hinge Company for 38 years. Her vast knowledge of the materials we use in our manufacturing process is priceless! She is a master at keeping our material pipeline full so that we can provide on time deliveries to all our valued customers. Rose's vendor relationships, and knowledge of raw material market conditions are extremely important in providing our customers with the lowest possible price for their continuous hinge requirements. During the extreme supply chain challenges, we have faced, Rose was able to face those challenges and guide S & S successfully through those unprecedented conditions. Rose goes above and beyond to keep the supply chain going, and always with a smile on her face!
